SHINe: energizing the economy with low-carbon, clean hydrogen
Energy leaders focused on developing low-carbon economies in the region have joined forces to develop a regional clean hydrogen hub in the Southwest.
The Center for an Arizona Carbon-Neutral Economy (AzCaNE) is collaborating with more than 40 member organizations to launch the Southwest clean Hydrogen Innovation Network, or SHINe.
On Nov. 7, 2022, as its first step in developing the hub, SHINe submitted a concept paper to seek federal funding from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for key clean hydrogen-focused initiatives. SHINe will use that assistance along with private funding to:
Make strategic investments across the clean H₂ value chain production, processing, delivery, storage, and use
Ensure accelerated deployment of clean H₂ technologies and infrastructure, positive economic and environmental benefits, and energy justice.
Committed to social impact
As part of its Community Benefits Plan, SHINe has committed to Justice 40; diversity, equity, inclusion and access; workforce development; and community and labor engagement.
